The Role

What Does a School Psychologist Do at BCPS?

School Psychologists at BCPS conduct psychoeducational assessments, support IEP teams, provide individual and group counseling, and deliver crisis intervention services across assigned Baltimore City schools.

Eaglewings was awarded BCPS contract IFB-26086 for School Psychology Services. As a School Psychologist placed through Eaglewings, you'll serve as a critical member of school-based support teams — evaluating students for special education eligibility, contributing to IEP development, providing evidence-based counseling, and responding to crises. You may be assigned to one or multiple schools based on district caseload needs.

This is a new role in our BCPS partnership, reflecting the growing demand for mental health professionals in Baltimore City schools. You'll have the full support of Eaglewings' clinical team and administrative staff throughout your placement.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

BCPS School Psychologists administer cognitive and academic assessments, write evaluation reports, participate in IEP meetings, provide counseling, and support behavioral intervention planning in Baltimore City schools.

Conduct psychoeducational and behavioral assessments for special education eligibility
Write comprehensive evaluation reports and present findings at IEP meetings
Provide individual and group counseling for students with social-emotional needs
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families on student support strategies
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and support Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
Perform threat assessments and risk assessments as needed
Provide crisis intervention and critical incident response
Participate in school-based support teams (SST, IEP, 504)

Requirements

Qualifications

Candidates need MSDE School Psychologist certification and a graduate degree in school psychology. NCSP certification and prior school-based experience are preferred but not required.

MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) certification as a School Psychologist
Graduate degree in School Psychology (Ed.S., Psy.D., or Ph.D.)
NCSP (Nationally Certified School Psychologist) — preferred
Experience with psychoeducational assessments and report writing
Pass criminal background check and drug screening
Strong interpersonal and consultation skills
