What Does a Paraprofessional Do at BCPS?

Paraprofessionals at Baltimore City Public Schools provide classroom support in special education — assisting lead teachers with instruction, student transitions, daily activities, and IEP implementation.

As a Paraprofessional with Eaglewings at BCPS, you'll work alongside special education teachers to support students in inclusive, resource, or self-contained classroom settings. Your role includes assisting with instruction, managing classroom activities, helping students with transitions and daily routines, facilitating social interactions, and implementing the goals outlined in each student's IEP.

This is a hands-on, relationship-centered role. You'll build trust with students, collaborate closely with lead teachers and related service providers, and play a direct role in helping students succeed academically and socially.

What is the schedule?
Monday through Friday following the BCPS academic calendar. Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. No nights, weekends, or summer hours. All school holidays and breaks off.
Do Paraprofessional positions include benefits?
Yes. All positions are W-2 employment with free medical (SBMA/PHCS), dental (Aflac), and vision (Aflac) insurance. Weekly pay every Thursday via Gusto direct deposit. Workers' compensation and MarylandSaves 401(k) included.
