Six school-based roles across Baltimore City Public Schools and Frederick County Public Schools. Each supports students in a different way.
Therapeutic Behavioral Aides provide one-to-one behavior intervention support for students with challenging behaviors as outlined in their IEP and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). TBAs work directly with students to implement behavior strategies, de-escalation techniques, and positive reinforcement.
Non-Therapeutic Aides provide one-to-one academic and classroom support for students as specified in their IEP. TAS aides assist students with daily activities, academic tasks, and social interactions without providing behavior intervention services.
Special Education Paraprofessionals provide general classroom support in special education settings. Paraprofessionals work alongside teachers to support multiple students, assist with instructional activities, and help maintain a positive learning environment.
Private Duty School Nurses provide one-to-one nursing care for medically fragile students during the school day. Nurses perform skilled nursing tasks as outlined in each student's Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP), ensuring students can safely attend school and participate in educational activities.
Registered Behavior Technicians deliver Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) intervention under BCBA supervision, supporting students with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral health needs. Currently hiring for Frederick County Public Schools.
Special Education Teachers deliver specially designed instruction to students with IEPs across classroom, resource, and self-contained settings.
